OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring the Company’s ongoing compliance and reporting with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations. This individual is responsible for analyzing, researching, and resolving issues and addressing payroll related tax inquiries as well as collaborating with tax vendors to support federal and state tax filings at the corporate level. This individual will specialize in payroll regulatory compliance across all states in which employees reside. This role involves ensuring accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of payroll taxes, as well as staying current with tax laws and regulations. This individual may also work with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives. A successful candidate demonstrates a willingness to learn, sustained attention for detail, exceptional organization and strong analytical skills and high levels of competency with written and oral communication. This individual is flexible and easily able to adapt to accomplish management's priorities and goals and has the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Research and resolve jurisdictional tax issues for corporate and payroll taxes. Be the point of contact for all payroll tax matters. Manage the registration process for new jurisdictions and develop a tracking system for incoming tax notices Prepare various federal, state and local tax reconciliations. Prepare returns and/or tax remittances for various federal and state governments in accordance with appropriate government reporting requirements Act as liaison between Company and external tax vendor(s) to support the timely filings of federal, state and local tax returns at the corporate level, providing requested Company information and prepared schedules, and managing tax remittances and amounts due to taxing authorities Support property and sales/use tax matters and filings as needed Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual worker’s comp audit and tax incentive requests Stay abreast of changes in payroll tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance with those applicable to the Company Drive process improvements and prepare standard operating procedures as needed Provide cross-functional support on special projects and requests as assigned Ad hoc projects to assist the accounting team POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Experience with payroll tax research and knowledge of payroll principles Knowledge of payroll concepts including pre- and post-tax benefits, deductions and reporting Intermediate knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll laws, and general legal requirements for tax registration, reporting, and special pay requirements Ability to perform tasks independently Ability to exercise the utmost confidentiality in every aspect Ability to identify and resolve problems Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Demonstrates curiosity in new or unfamiliar tax and financial concepts Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Software EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field preferred Two years specific experience preferred REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: This role shall comply, at a minimum, with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined in: CLIA: Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Requirements, Title 42 Code of Federal Regulations Part 493 CAP: College of American Pathologists (CAP): All Common, General, Director Responsibility and Authority and all test-specific checklists NYS CLEP: New York State Department of Health, Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program (CLEP), New York State Public Health Law, Article 5 Title 5 ISO: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485, Quality Management Systems, Requirements for Regulatory Purposes, 2016 All other applicable state and regulatory governing authorities including but not limited to: CA, PA, RI, MD PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use hands to grip, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear The team member frequently is required to sit, walk, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally is required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity to Colorado driver’s license requirements WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions The primary work environment is an office setting The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate UNPLANNED ACTIVITIES: Other duties as assigned TRAVEL PERCENTAGE: Minimal COMPENSATION: We are excited to provide: Competitive compensation $83,800 to $98,600 annually Individual base compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related aspects.
