CSCS TXJob SummaryThe Payroll Tax & Accounting Analyst is an important member of the Payroll Tax & Accounting Team responsible for accurate and timely payroll tax reporting and providing support to the payroll tax team.  This role will focus on compliance, accuracy and attention to detail ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and handling vendor relationships for tax services.  This role prepares and reconciles payroll tax transactions, handling of tax filings, and responding to agency notices with limited supervision.  The Payroll Tax & Accounting Analyst ensures accurate and timely processing of W-2s and W-2 Corrections for approximately 32,000 teammates.  The Payroll Tax & Accounting Analyst provides excellent customer service to assist teammates with payroll tax inquiries.  Role and Responsibilities​​

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll tax regulations. 

With limited supervision, maintains timely, accurate, compliant and confidential payroll tax processes. 

Independently works with auditors on payroll tax audits and responds to inquiries from tax authorities. 

Collaborate with other departments to ensure payroll tax reporting and compliance. 

With limited supervision, use Workday and ADP SmartCompliance to ensure the accuracy of payroll taxes. 

Research and resolve tax notifications, process and reconcile Forms W-2, W-2 Correction, and 941 Forms. 

Review tax changes, regulations, and laws to determine appropriate handling in accordance with tax practices and policies and execute action. 

Assists new Payroll Tax Analysts with questions about payroll tax processes and procedures. 

Reviews and contributes to the updates and/or development of departmental process and procedure documentation, checklists, or other controls. 

Key player in working on tax related payroll projects, system testing and implementations. 

Independently stays abreast of developments in tax, accounting, auditing and other specialized reporting areas through a variety of sources. 

Independently reviews Unemployment Insurance account and reconcile state rates with the Claim Administrator using Workday. 

Using ADP SmartCompliance, reconcile garnishment withholdings against Third-Party remittance. 

Collaborates and works effectively in a team environment. 

Maintains strict confidentiality to protect teammate data privacy. 

​​Qualifications and Education Requirements​ 

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred or equivalent experience in multi-state tax compliance regarding federal, state and local payroll taxes, regulations etc. 

3 or more years of payroll tax experience, including multi-state processing for large organizations. 

Broad knowledge of payroll tax practices, processes, and related regulatory requirements. ​

​​​Preferred Skills​ 

Collaborate effectively with various cross-functional business partners.  Manage high-volume tax transactions while balancing multiple commitments 

Strong verbal and written communication skills.  

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products including advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, control totals, etc.).
