The Payroll Tax Analyst will be responsible for all aspects of federal, state, and local payroll tax for multiple legal entities in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. This individual will provide proactive, in-depth knowledge and expertise in payroll tax, including compliance, auditing, reporting, research, reconciliation, testing, process improvement, and developing proper controls. These activities ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of all payroll tax activities, employing discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities:
+ Monitoring taxes across our employee base, including tracking current employees' movement to various work locations and ensuring state registration for new employees as necessary.
+ Ensure all payroll tax activities are processed timely, accurately and in compliance with all federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations and FLSA labor laws.
+ Responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all tax vendor Monthly, Quarterly and Annual government filings, amendments and reporting including the creation and distribution of US and Puerto Rico employee W-2’s and W-2C’s and Canadian T4’s.
+ Accountable for verifying and updating federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and tax rates to ensure an accurate and compliant payroll system.
+ Investigates, analyzes, and responds timely and accurately to tax inquiries, agency notices and audits from both internal customers and external agencies.
+ Proactively identifies and resolves escalations and complex issues, provides root-cause analysis, and implements process improvements.
+ Assists with various tax related payroll projects, system testing and implementations.
+ Develops and maintains process documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, desktop procedures and job aids) to ensure a complete, accurate, and up-to-date depiction of tax processes.
+ Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures through the management of tax requirements and configuration of deductions and earnings in partnership with HRIS and project team.
+ Review the accuracy of earning and deduction codes to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, or annual tax returns for jurisdictions not included in payroll software tax service.
+ Stay up to date on current and future payroll tax regulations.
+ Assist Payroll Specialists with complex payroll entries (stock, bonuses, corrections).
+ Provides support to Payroll Analyst and Payroll Specialists as needed.
Minimum Job Requirements
**Education / Work Experience**
+ 7+ years progressive, related U.S. payroll experience with 4+ in U.S. payroll tax.
+ US multi-state taxation (including local taxes) in a complex manufacturing environment
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and payroll tax experience
**Knowledge / Skills / Abilities**
+ Exposure to various payroll and payroll tax platforms with a demonstrated knowledge of systems set-up (e.g. Workday, OSV, SAP, ADP, etc.).
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take initiative and build strong relationships
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
+ Exercise full discretion and confidentiality in an ethical and professional manner.
+ Payroll system implementation and testing experience.
+ Proficient in Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, creating formulas, etc.)
+ Analytical with attention to detail.
+ Ability to work independently both remotely and/or in office settings
+ Confident under pressure while maintaining a positive demeanor.
Preferred Job Requirements
**Education / Work Experience**
+ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
+ Experience with Canadian, Puerto Rico and UK payroll tax.
+ Payroll processing experience in Workday.
