Payroll Tax Specialist

System One is seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist for a contract-to hire opportunity in San Antonio Tx.

Are you an experienced Payroll Tax Specialist looking for an opportunity to lead compliance initiatives and manage domestic and international payroll tax processes? We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with expertise in payroll tax, reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:
Domestic Payroll Tax & Regulatory Compliance (80%)
•    Prepare, reconcile, fund, and maintain records of weekly and quarterly tax deposits.
•    Manage wage adjustments and file W2C, UI, or 941 amendments as needed.
•    Co-lead year-end payroll projects and deliverables.
•    Ensure payroll tax processes comply with legal requirements and company policies.
•    Update accounting teams on payroll tax accrual changes and resolve related issues.
•    Lead tax updates and routine maintenance.
•    Co-lead quarter-end and year-end reporting, including W2s, tax filings, and reconciliation with external vendors.
•    Conduct audits and maintain reports to ensure data integrity and compliance.
•    Manage team member tax data setup and respond to payroll tax inquiries.
•    Lead payroll tax compliance projects.
•    Co-manage payroll tax vendor relationships, including ADP and agency notices.
International Payroll Processing & Tax Compliance (20%)
•    Work with vendors to ensure timely delivery of foreign payroll and tax liabilities.
•    Assist global mobility and corporate tax teams with payroll-related matters.
•    Review agreements and requisitions to determine potential payroll tax liabilities.
•    Manage vendor relationships to ensure accountability in foreign national payroll processing.
•    Co-lead expatriate payroll processes, including HYPO tax management and equity payment reporting.
•    Assist with implementing payroll vendors in new international markets.
•    Process tax payments as instructed by E&Y or international payroll vendors.
•    Maintain relationships with E&Y and ensure accurate expatriate payroll adjustments.
•    Co-lead foreign tax filing processes and respond to tax-related inquiries.
•    Communicate with the treasury department to ensure timely wire transfers.
•    Keep senior management and global mobility teams informed with key deliverables.
•    Lead process improvement efforts to enhance payroll tax efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:
•    Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting, or 5+ years of payroll tax experience.
•    Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP) preferred (or willingness to obtain within the first year).
•    5+ years of experience in payroll tax functions.
•    Experience working with multiple vendors.
•    Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and principles.
•    Strong ethical standards, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
•    4-7 years of experience in expatriate payroll management.
•    Knowledge of ADP Tax Compliance and/or Oracle software.
•    Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
•    Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
•    General knowledge of or experience in the industrial construction industry.

•    Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
•    Weekly pay, benefits, and 401(k) offered
