PBS Practitioner
Job Introduction

This is the chance to join an innovative team as a PBS Practitioner within the Learning Disability and Mental Health Service influencing best practice for the people we support.

Location is flexible across Greater Manchester or Yorkshire as it's home-working with some travel to visit individuals and their teams. The main areas to be covered include Manchester, Bradford, Barnsley, Wakefield, Shefield and Rotherham, we would like to find a candidate located in one of these areas. Nationwide travel might be required occasionally. All travel costs are covered.

There will be the need on occasions to work evenings and part of a weekend in the event of referral support being needed.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload and plan their diary which enables a work-life balance.

PBS Practitioner input will be offered to people with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs i.e. behaviours of distress, mental health conditions and risk of contact with the criminal justice system.

Role Responsibility

The post-holder will provide excellent Positive Behaviour Support, in keeping with the organisations Positive Behaviour Support Framework.

Main duties:

Respond to PBS Referrals and hold a caseload, prioritised with support from the PBS Team Manager Ensure support teams are focused on enhancing the quality of life of people supported, promoting personal skill development and reducing/eliminating the use of restrictive practices Respond to crisis situations in which a person is posing a risk to self and/or others and there is a risk of placement breakdown/hospital admission Training and development for teams who are supporting people  Input to the assessment of people seeking support Support to teams in reviewing and developing PBS plans, personal support plans and risk assessments To provide support and mentoring to Support Workers working with people with Autism and/or behaviours of distress To work with the relevant professionals/multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the provision of an effective support to those individuals that use access Turning Points services Maintain data analysis related to behavioural support to evidence justification for strategies employed and behavioural trends over time The Ideal Candidate

In order to effectively support operational teams, the post holder will have formal training in PBS e.g. BILD CAPBS Coache, PBS diploma or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will also be:

Passionate, motivated and enthusiastic Creative thinker and problem solver Have a strong understanding of the values and ethos of positive behavior support, person centered approaches and thinking, Active Support and Total Communication Flexible and able to adapt to change Able to work effectively as part of a team and off own initiative To engage professionally and respectively with others whilst advocating for excellent positive behavior support to individuals Contribute to best practice forums and networks and focus on continuous professional development to enhance the positive behavior support offered to individuals Excellent verbal, written and IT skills to ensure accurate and professional records and reports are developed as appropriate Willingness and ability to travel throughout the organisation. A full drivers licence and access to a vehicle is essential to the role. About us
