Title:

PC&C Analyzer & Instrumentation Supervisor

Responsible for start-up and plant operations activities including equipment and system checkout, inspection for proper installation, review for correct design, and calculation of expected system and equipment operating parameters under temporary start-up conditions. Coordinates start-up operations, including the direction of craft, and all other start-up activities such as flushing, chemical cleaning, and initial equipment and system operation. Coordinates performance tests and calculates test results and heat balances. Performs calculations required to properly evaluate design changes, provides engineering reports for the engineering department to assist in design change preparation. Works with client at the site. Under broad direction, functions as a technical specialist who makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a far reaching impact on extensive engineering and related activities of the company. Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies. Performs advisory and consulting work for the organization as a recognized authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialized area. Job role contributes directly to value creation. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years related experience, with average experience of 15+ years.

The PC&C Analyzer & Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of process control and analyzer instrumentation systems. This role ensures that all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The supervisor will oversee a team of skilled technicians, coordinate with operations and engineering teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives for plant reliability and performance.

 Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of analyzer and instrumentation technicians.Plan and prioritize daily work schedules, ensuring optimal resource allocation.Provide technical guidance and support to the team on complex troubleshooting and repair tasks.

Maintenance and Calibration:

Oversee the calibration, maintenance, and repair of process analyzers, control systems, and instrumentation equipment, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and gas analyzers.Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules and industry standards.

Operations Support:

Collaborate with operations teams to address instrumentation issues, minimize downtime, and maintain process reliability.Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.Maintain accurate documentation, including calibration records, maintenance logs, and regulatory reports.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and accuracy of instrumentation systems.Lead or participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of failures.

Project Management:

Support the design, installation, and commissioning of new instrumentation systems and upgrades.Manage budgets and timelines for instrumentation-related projects.

Training and Development:

Provide training to technicians and operations staff on proper use and maintenance of instrumentation and analyzers.Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices, sharing knowledge with the team.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in process control, instrumentation, or analyzer maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Technical Skills:Strong knowledge of process analyzers, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and instrumentation systems.Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, API, and IEC.Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining gas chromatography, spectroscopy, and other process analyzers.Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician, Six Sigma) are a plus.Soft Skills: Leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.Other: Ability to work in industrial environments and respond to emergencies as needed.
