PCR Analyst
Job Title: PCR Analyst Job Description The PCR Analyst will be responsible for performing routine testing support and supporting projects. This includes qPCR testing with samples that have a 7-hour turnaround time, in process testing on raw materials, and finished product testing. The role involves an all-hands-on-team effort to ensure timely sample processing. The analyst will also be involved in contaminant monitoring, positive control environmental monitoring, instrument calibration and maintenance, inventory, and reagent preparations. Additionally, the analyst will be trained on validation tasks, software programming, and method drafting. Responsibilities + Perform routine qPCR testing with a 7-hour turnaround time. + Conduct in process testing on raw materials, primarily from pig origin, and extract RNA from tissue. + Test finished product, including pancreatin powder. + Monitor contaminants and perform positive control environmental monitoring. + Calibrate and maintain instruments, including centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and liquid handler robots. + Prepare and manage inventory and reagents. + Validate laboratory spaces and perform method drafting. + Run speciation assays to identify and quantify different species within a sample. + Handle pipetting by hand, using various centrifuges, micro balances, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, and qPCR software. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Microbiology or related discipline required. + 2+ years of experience in a PCR or micro lab environment required - experience with PCR and qPCR testing. + Knowledge in quality control, method development, and GMP. + Strong in biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and pharmaceutical testing. + Familiarity with FDA regulations and environmental monitoring. + Experience with laboratory audits and document control. + Experience with thermo cyclers and qPCR software is ideal.
