Join our team! Clarivate is seeking motivated Patent Analysts to work with us in support of a contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). As a Patent Analyst, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive search and written opinion on the patentability of an array of diverse technologies.
About you – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Biotechnology
At least 1 year of previous patent examining or patent searching experience
At least 1 year of experience developing search methodology and conducting searches using databases such as Orbit, Derwent Innovation, Google Scholar, Google Patents, PubMed
Must be a U.S. citizen or work-eligible legal resident who has continuously resided in the U.S. for at least the two previous years
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
It would be great if you also had
Master’s or PhD
At least 3 years of previous patent examining or patent searching experience
In-depth knowledge of technical literature in the areas of engineering, software, and business methods
Demonstrated work experience in roles requiring a high level of attention to detail
Strong time management skills and dependability in completing quality projects against deadlines
What will you be doing in this role?
On a weekly basis, accept projects with a defined due date
Demonstrate the ability to read a disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from the prior art
Perform a comprehensive search to ensure the most relevant prior art is located and provide a logical and complete search history
Prepare a written opinion applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure
Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications
Stay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures via self-directed review of materials provided by Clarivate
Maintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverables
Ensure compliance with Clarivate’s Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct
About the team
Our team has supported the USPTO by providing PCT Chapter I Search and Examination services since 2005 (formerly as Landon IP and CPA Global).
Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position
This position is fully remote working in the United States
Compensation - US Only
The expected base salary for this position is a base salary of $55,000 USD per year with eligibility for productivity earnings. Individual pay is based upon experience, education, skill and ability, expertise, and relevant factors.
