Renown Childrens Hospital is excited to recruit for a fulltime fellowship position in our pediatric specialty care clinics. Venture to this picturesque area where there is an abundance of outdoor adventures, great restaurants, and nightlife. Renown Childrens Hospital is proud to be the only childrens hospital in northern Nevada.
Pediatric Psychology fellows will be embedded in our 7 medical specialty departments. Time is devoted to the departments of Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Adolescent Medicine, Endocrinology, and Hematology/Oncology and fellows develop a strong working relationship within these interdisciplinary teams. Fellows carry a caseload of patients in each clinic while also providing inpatient services for the respective departments. Clinical work includes providing individual therapy and family sessions to support coping with chronic health conditions, coping with new medical diagnoses, psychological factors impacting medical treatment, adherence, coping with hospitalization, and other. Interest in program development, strong clinical skills, and relevant training experiences in a medical setting are desired. A qualitative project will be chosen by the fellow at the start of the year and carried throughout.

Position Purpose
Under the direction and supervision of a Psychologist, the Psychology Assistant will perform administrative, counseling, and research tasks as assigned. The Psychology Assistant will help gather information and conference with their supervising Psychologist to aid in forming a diagnosis and treatment plan for persons who have personal or interpersonal behavioral health and/or addiction problems. This person will complete tasks as assigned to assist the Supervising Psychologist, who will be delivering problem focused, recovery oriented services to individuals, couples, families, and groups, and for meeting regulatory guidelines and standards. The Psychologist_Assistant position is a one-year position, with the expectation that the incumbent will obtain the number of clinical hours required as a Psychologist_Assistant in order to be eligible to obtain a valid Psychologist license with the State of Nevada and apply for an open Psychologist position within the organization.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent in this position must function within the team using high-level clinical and interpersonal skills. This position requires the use of sound assessment skills, combined with appropriate clinical judgment and must be capable of efficiently managing a case load, including planning, setting priorities and budgeting time to ensure smooth processes and completion of work in a timely manner. The position requires assumption of responsibilities for documenting all significant patient contact in accordance with regulatory guideline/standards. The Psychologist coordinates care between professionals as needed. This person must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to initiate contact with internal and external resources on behalf of the client. This person must be able to perform in-service training and speak effectively to groups of patients, community organization members, at places of business, through tele-psychiatry and at workshops. The incumbent is accountable for the assessment, planning, implementing and ongoing evaluation of the patient population served. This position is required to adhere to the Renown Health Scope of Practice for credentialing. This position does not provide direct patient care.

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. APA-accredited (or equivalent) doctoral degree in Health Service Psychology, required.
Experience:
Two years minimum experience in a clinical setting required.
License(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Psychologist Assistant license with the State of Nevada within 30 days of employment
Certification(s):
Current and valid BLS issued by The American Heart Association required.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to Credential through Renowns Medical Staff and/or Payor Credentialing, as applicable.
