Responsible for nursing care planning and management of primarily pediatric patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This is a non-supervisory position following the Florida Nurse Practice Act and chain of command.

Job Responsibilities:
Utilizes basic physical and psychosocial skills by collaborating with clinical nursing resources to identify actual nursing diagnosis/clinical problems and document findings. Initiates and establishes a nursing plan of care in collaboration with clinical nursing resources. Implements and nursing plan of care by utilizing basic nursing skills and scientific principles; priorities care in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures. Identifies and intervenes for pediatric patient and family problems by providing psychosocial and emotional support, documents appropriately. Consistently delivers patient care according to the established plan of care; collaborates with clinical nursing resources to modify the plan of care as needed. Demonstrates proper operation of unit specific equipment. Uses equipment and supplies in cost effective manner. Recognizes and documents changes in patient’s condition, including life threatening situations, and follows through with appropriate nursing action. Functions effectively in emergency situations by assisting with and performing emergency procedures. Completes documentation according to guidelines and intervenes to correct substandard documentation. Participates in evaluating and documenting the outcome of care. Works with ancillary personnel to meet patient care needs. Adhere to the Child Protection Policy and Code Pink Policy to always ensure the safety of a pediatric patient/visitor. Maintains patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. Administers medication and treatments as prescribed, evaluates pediatric patient response and documents appropriately. Demonstrates therapeutic communication skills when interacting with pediatric patients and families. Participates in formal/informal pediatric patient care conferences. Interacts professionally with other members of the health care team. Identifies and documents the learning and discharge needs of pediatric patients and family; reinforces the teaching plan. Follows established teaching and discharge plan; reinforces specific teaching and documents level of progress/understanding. Consistently recognizes own limitations, seeks resources and consultation to improve nursing practice. Independently completes all basic nursing skills and interventions according to specialty specific skills checklist. (Attach basic list.) Updates skills according to new policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with a State of Florida license. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification required Pediatric experience at least one year.
