Pediatric Speech and Language Pathologist Clinician 1
The SLP 1 is an entry level speech-language pathologist who may be in a clinical fellowship year or new to a medical setting.  The SLP 1 provides safe patient care at a basic level and shows growth in the ability to care for increasingly complex patients.  A speech-language pathologist at this level requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback regarding complex patient problems and coordination of care with the other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The SLP 1 is an entry-level speech-language pathologist     focused primarily on general knowledge and skills. This therapist understands the SLP’s role on the interdisciplinary team and is beginning to participate as a member.  The SLP 1 may mentor graduate students.

Performs evaluations of speech language and swallowing function according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.Demonstrates knowledge of intervention options and executes a program of skilled speech language pathology intervention.Actively participates in professional growth of self and others.Actively participates in quality improvement and program development.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $66,518.40 - $106,433.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology 

Experience: No experience required

Licensure: Licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology from the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology required; new graduates have 6 months to achieve this licensure.  Eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or certified with Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required.  American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs.  May be exposed to chemicals, humidity, heat, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.
