Peer Advocate, PRC

As a Peer Advocate, you will in the Permanency Resource Center to assist adoptive, guardianship and kinship/custodial families and case managers in helping families and youth access services.  You will assist in the development, scheduling and provision of family engagement activities and support groups. You will report to the Permanency Resource Center Case Manager Supervisor and will work both onsite and remote with community-based travel required.

Responsibilities:

Provide families with information about resources in the community for services, ongoing support and linkages. Assist parents and caregivers in identifying any barriers to accessing community resources. Assist parents and caregivers with documentation and other steps needed to access resources and support from either public or private entities. Provide strategies and intervention suggestions to parents/caregivers whose children's challenges create safety concerns. Provide support to the permanency care managers. Collaborate with school personnel and attend meetings when indicated to support the permanency care managers. Help with transportation needs. Coordinate Family Engagement Events. Schedule child care staff for support groups. Participate in regular team meetings. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements and Education:

A High School Diploma A valid Driver's License At least five years of experience working with families regarding adoption, foster care, guardianship care or kinship care, or formal or informal custody.
