Peer Recovery Specialist
Position Summary Accountable for assisting consumers in the Emergency services/Screening program including: ensuring the coordination of patient care through follow-up with consumers, Psycho-education, assisting patients with linkage to treatment, other services & entitlements. Works collaboratively with the Emergency Services staff, 2 Central, psychiatry, Primary care Physicians, HBH and community outpatient treatment programs. Supports the mission, values and philosophy of HMC. Primary Position Responsibilities 1. Respond in a timely manner when called to the emergency department or community. 2. Gather consumer information for follow-up and as required by grant(NJ Div. of Mental Health and Addiction Services) 3. Educate survivors on OORP program and navigating the treatment system 4. Be a positive role model for consumer and family. 5. Assist consumer in constructing a Wellness Recovery Action Plan. 6. Provide telephone and face to face follow up with consumers. Qualifications Minimum Education: Required: High School diploma. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Equivalent. Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: Personal experience of Recovery Preferred: None License, Registry or Certification: Required: Valid Driver's License Preferred: None Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: ? Excellent interpersonal communication skills. ? Ability to identify and resolve problems. ? Computer literate, skilled in customer service.
