Pensions Lawyer | Principal Associate | International Law Firm | Birmingham BCL Legal is delighted to be assisting an international law firm in its recruitment of a Principal Associate to join its highly regarded Pensions team in Birmingham. Role/Team: This leading international law firm is looking for an ambitious Principal Associate to join its award-winning Pensions team in Birmingham. A unique opportunity to work alongside experienced, technically excellent pensions solicitors in a friendly and collaborative team. The firm is renowned for its outstanding training and development programmes, ensuring that solicitors receive top-tier support throughout their careers. As a Principal Associate in this team, your role will primarily involve advising trustees and corporates on a wide range of pensions law matters, including: - Day-to-day advice on pension scheme management. - Drafting and reviewing scheme documentation. - Advising on the impact of legislative changes, including case law developments such as GMP equalisation. - Handling pension scheme mergers, wind-ups, and liability reduction exercises. - Advising on investment issues, including management agreements and risk transfer projects. - Providing corporate support, including assessing the impact of reorganisations and negotiating appropriate mitigations. - Public sector pensions and engaging with cutting-edge legal developments as they arise. - There are also opportunities for public speaking, business development, and involvement in high-profile client matters, allowing you to grow your profile within the pensions market. Candidate: - You should have 6+ years' PQE in Pensions law. - A proven track record of advising trustees of large occupational pension schemes and employers on complex pensions matters. - Experience in leading large, strategic projects and managing junior solicitors. - A strong understanding of relevant pensions legislation and how it applies to clients' commercial objectives. - Demonstrated experience in client relationship management, business development, and raising your profile within the industry.
