\nThis position is 5 days a week onsite at our Veeder in Altoona, PA.
\nWhat You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)
\n\nOperate as a business partner, understanding the business strategies, goals, objectives, and financial performance of the organization; build ongoing relationships with leaders, managers, and other stakeholders; and use this knowledge and understanding to drive key HR strategies and initiatives to support the operational and strategic goals.\nPartner and coach leadership on performance management, talent review, merit process, succession planning, organizational design, compensation mapping, and change management.\nEstablishes and maintains satisfactory labor relations, formulates and administers the Company’s labor relations policy and strategy subject to senior leadership’s guidance and approval. Represents management in labor relations matters, including negotiating, interpreting, and administrating collective bargaining agreements.\nProvide leadership and counsel to management on CBA-related issues. Supports the organization through challenging labor relations activities and investigations while developing and training line management on practical investigation and corrective action procedures.\nIdentify and resolve basic associate relation issues and escalate to the People & Culture site leader as needed. Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees, management, and union representatives. Collaborate with union representatives to address collective bargaining agreements, grievances, and negotiations.\nAdministers People & Culture programs, plans, and procedures for all company personnel; assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures. \nAct as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including coordinating onboarding and termination processes for all associates. Manage leave and benefits policies for salaried and hourly associates. Manage training records and administer employee benefit open enrollment programs. \nManage special projects and facilitate various associate training, development, and education sessions as needed based on identifying internal needs. \nPromote a positive work environment that fosters collaboration and communication.\nStay updated on labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance.\nDrive effective talent acquisition strategies and lead union hourly recruitment efforts, including whiteboard, job bid postings, external job postings, candidate screening, and interview candidates to meet the business's needs. Provide advice and counsel throughout the talent acquisition process. \nParticipate in audits to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.\nWork directly with the People & Culture Department on the Associate Engagement Survey Action Planning. Design and administer pulse surveys for the Altoona site. \nMonitor People & Culture (HR) KPI metrics, generate standard and ad hoc reports and trend analysis. Develop countermeasures and action plans to drive KPI performance.\nMaintain professional and courteous relationships with union associates and union committees.\nContinuously improve People & Culture Processes and procedures utilizing VBS methodology. \nServes as the backup for the People & Culture Manager. \nBackground and Skills
\n\nBachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or equivalent 3 to 5 years experience in the Human Resources field. \nUnion experience is essential.\nProven experience in People & Culture (Human Resources) roles. \nKnowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, and union labor relations.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\nAbility to handle confidential information with discretion.\nExcellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.\nProficiency in HRIS software.\nStrong analytical skills, and proficient in Microsoft Suite of Tools required.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and data analysis required.\nAbility to understand and meet stated deadlines required.\nGeneral knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource administration required.\nKnowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of human resource management required.\n\n#LI-AB1
