People & Culture Operating Efficiency and Innovation Associate
What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

 

Under the People & Culture Operating Manager's supervision and close cooperation with a multidisciplinary Operating Efficiency and Innovation division team, the Communications Officer will contribute to crafting, planning and delivering communication materials to support People & Culture activities.

They will be exposed to personal and confidential information; in this capacity, they are encouraged to maintain strict confidentiality on all HR-related data or issues with respect to the ICRC Human Resources ethical guidelines.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 

Coordinate and manage content on various internal platforms to support engagement within the department;  Build items for internal communication (documents, infographics, presentations, videos, intranet sections, newsletters) – write, design, edit;  Ensure the accuracy of the People & Culture content with the subject matter experts, manage the reviews and updates;  Assists organization of workshops and all staff meetings;  Co-create and update communication plans and contribute to change strategies for HR projects; May be required to collaborate with senior management of the People & Culture department. Desired Profile and Skills

 

University degree in a relevant field (e.g. journalism, communications, marketing).  Have a maximum of one year's professional experience after graduation (relating to the post) or two years if you have been in previous traineeships.  Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English are required, and French, Spanish or Arabic are an asset.  Track record in developing and delivering content.  Knowledge of current communication and tools, including digital platforms. Experience with content management systems and visual design tools.  Creativity in writing and crafting content.  Storytelling skills.  Ability to analyse audience needs to propose best communication channels.  Adept in managing deadlines and producing outcomes.  Excellent customer-relations management.  Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
