This key role is responsible for day-to-day support of Black Duck’s immigration program and supports all global mobility, visa/immigration processing, and programs. This role serves as the central point of communication among the various stakeholders of active and potential immigration cases for Black Duck. The Immigration Specialist reports to the N. America People Partner, Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
· Support our business immigration program that delivers a superior experience to employees while ensuring adherence with existing and changing laws, regulations, and company policies.
· Address day-to-day U.S. and Canada immigration related concerns, answer questions and resolve escalated issues from employees pertaining their immigration status. Provide consultation to cross-functional team members (i.e., HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, Payroll and Leadership) on immigration related matters.
· Provide immigration support for employees, partnering with external counsel and HR business partners, on items including nonimmigrant visa services, lawful permanent resident applications, and immigration policy, compliance, and planning.
· Conduct reviews of immigration data, processes, and policies to identify gaps. Recommend process improvements for global immigration program to ensure program audit-readiness.
· Coordinate training for HR partners, managers, and foreign national employees on work visas and immigration topics.
· Work with global partners and employees to identify business needs for work visas, short- and long-term employee transfers and prepare related documents (i.e., invitation letters, verification of employment letters).
· Collaborate with Finance and Accounting team members for annual immigration budget planning, fiscal year purchase order set up and invoice reconciliation reporting.
· Identify strategies to reduce immigration expenses and achieve cost-effective immigration filings.
· Analyze and evaluate immigration situations and escalate red flag issues to supervisors, hiring managers and HRBPs. Partners with outside immigration counsel as required to obtain details necessary for response to key issues.
· Ensure the achievement of the immigration goals envisioned for the program.
· Help coordinate initiative to create consistent global processes for work visas in all global regions for easier tracking, processing, and budgeting.
· Research and oversee registration processes which expedite obtaining visas for employees regularly traveling on business.
· Lead and coordinate the immigration global mobility strategy by partnering with Black Duck’s Regional HR team to successfully transfer employees across Black Duck APAC, EMEA and AMER regions on a short-term basis for critical business purposes.
Required Skills/Education
· 3-5 years immigration experience with a focus on US immigration.
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
· Experience handling immigrant and non-immigrant matters including H1B, L1, TN, and the PERM (Green Card) labor certification process. Strong knowledge of employment-based immigration regulations and procedures.
· Experience working for a multinational tech company with a global presence preferred.
· Proactive problem solver and disciplined self-starter.
· Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills and attention to detail.
· Must demonstrate decision-making, problem solving, effective presentation, collaboration and negotiation skills.
· Ability to multi-task and operate successfully in a high volume, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Applicant Tracking System, HRIS.
The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $91,000 - $109,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
