Overview: JR Merit has an opportunity for a Human Resource professional to join our team as a People Team Specialist in Vancouver, WA. The People Team Specialist plays a critical role in supporting a variety of People Team business needs, with a particular focus on recruiting and onboarding. This position will provide vital assistance across the employee lifecycle, supporting functions including recruiting, onboarding, learning and development, record keeping, employee relations, benefits administration, policy deployment, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively across all levels of staff to ensure smooth People Team operations and contribute to an overall positive employee experience. This position reports to the People Operations Manager. This role is based out of our corporate office and requires in-office presence. Essential Functions: Recruiting: + Manage the end-to-end recruiting function including sourcing, screening, presenting applicants, scheduling interviews, and preparing offers. + Build relationships with hiring managers to understand job requirements and facilitate recruitment strategies. + Proactively source passive candidates through job boards, professional associations, networking, and referrals. + Maintain and update the applicant tracking system (ATS), ensuring compliance and positive candidate experience. + Assist with other recruitment tasks as needed. College Recruiting: + Coordinate university recruitment efforts and travel to career fairs to fill internships and entry-level positions. + Build and maintain relationships with university staff and student industry organizations. + Identify talent for internship roles and assist with facilitation of the Student Intern Program. People Operations Support: + Facilitate the onboarding process and conduct new hire orientations to provide an effective and compliant experience for new employees. + Identify and recommend solutions to streamline and improve People Operations procedures. + Support training and development initiatives to encourage employee growth and learning. + Provide support to the People Operations Manager with employee relations and performance tasks. + Maintain accurate records and perform data entry tasks to ensure compliance of People Operations documents. + Assist with the administration of benefits programs and guide employees in questions related to benefits plans. + Maintain process documentation and create SOPs regarding all People Operations administrative duties. Required Qualifications: + Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources/People Operations as a Recruiter, Generalist or similar role. + Strong work ethic, confidentiality, and dependability. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Cultural awareness with ability to act with professionalism across all levels of the organization. + Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and OFCCP requirements. + Experience with HR systems, applicant tracking systems, and recruiting software. + Experience sourcing passive talent using LinkedIn Recruiter, Handshake, and other sourcing tools. + Strong analytical and decision-making skills. + Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office skills. Desired Qualifications: + Knowledge of the construction industry, preferably in industrial general construction with multi-state experience. + Professional HR certification preferred. Working Conditions: + This position is based out of our corporate office in Vancouver, WA and requires in-office presence. + Travel is required, primarily to university career fairs in the Pacific Northwest during Spring and Fall. + Work is generally performed while standing or sitting, in an office environment, with a computer and telephone. + At times, work may be performed at a jobsite where additional training, certification(s), and clearances may be needed to comply with jobsite requirements. + Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
