Per Diem Paramedic
The hours for the position are below and the candidate can select which shift they prefer:

AM-0645 to 1915

PM-1900 to 0715

SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care in relation to an individual's emergency medical needs, in accordance with recognized and established protocols outlined by Code Blue Operations. The Public Space Code Blue Team provides medical emergency response to all public spaces outside the Main Hospital clinical areas, to include the adjacent areas of clinical buildings that have valet parking and/or patient drop-off/pick up zones.
The Public Space Code Blue Team also responds to Code Blue activations in the Main Hospital clinical areas in a supportive role to the other Code Blue Teams. Code Blue Team Paramedics will not provide routine or emergency care to inpatients or outpatients receiving care in a clinical area.

Provides medical emergency response (code blue), as requested.

Provides primary medical emergency response in defined public spaces of the MD Anderson campus as part of Code Blue Team, and in accordance with protocols approved by the Code Blue Medical Director. Provides support, as requested, to Code Blue Teams in inpatient and outpatient areas.

Demonstrates technical skills related to an emergency medical response.

Includes, but is not limited to, competent use of defibrillator, electrocardiograph, laryngoscope, performance of endotracheal intubations, IV or IO placement, administration of oxygen, aerosol therapy, immobilization, etc.

Assists in transportation or movement of patients.

Assists in lifting, carrying, and transporting patient to ambulance and/or medical facility.

Successful completion of a Texas Department of Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Bachelor's degree. Two years experience as a Paramedic. All of the following: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
