The Prep Cook supports food service team in production, serving, and delivery of food to students. The Prep Cook is required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise. Must understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and be willing to improve on the job. The Prep Cook should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Serving students/clients with special needs lunch and dinnerPreparation, cook, and clean up for dinnerPack and deliver snacks and beveragesDeliver meals to the residencesFollow the prep list created to plan dutiesLabel and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessibleMeasure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cookingPrepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat and other meal prepSet up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipesUndertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling foodMaintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing services and taking out trash and helping ion dish roomReceiving, rotating and organizing inventory and deliveriesRecording temperature documentation of food and refrigeration unitsHours: Per Diem, Filling in as needed for call outs, vacations, etc. Flexibility is required, 8+ hours per week
Qualifications• Must be 18 or older have a HS Diploma or equivalent
• Experience as a prep cook is preferred
• Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays
