Job Summary
Apply critical respiratory care procedures in the treatment and diagnosis of patients, primarily in critical care areas, working indirectly under supervision of the supervisor or charge therapist. They will plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care. Responsibilities
• Collect, analyze and integrate patient information. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to explain procedures to the patient and any family members present. • Observes proper equipment cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and ensures equipment is in proper working condition. Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing. Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, repair them, or report to supervisor promptly. • Applies elecenterodes and sensors according to accepted policies and published standards. Perform appropriate patient physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals. Demonstrates ability to recognize artifact (patient or environmental), document, eliminates, or takes proper measures to monitor the artifact. • Performs positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting. Follows procedural protocols for patient testing and recording, positive airway pressure titration, and oxygen titration. • Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study quality to ensure signals are artifact free. Document routine observations including sleep stages, clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant sleep events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysonmographic results. • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate actions to take during patient emergencies and insures patient safety at all times. • Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to perform polysmnogram scoring. Scores sleep/wake stages, clinical events, and generates accurate reports. Participates in interscorer reliability quality measures.

Education
• Associate's Degree (Required) Experience: 1 year
Substitution: Associate's Degree with emphasis in Polysomnography may substitute for Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
