Role Overview: As a Performance Engineer at VDURA, you will analyze, debug, and enhance our distributed storage system to maximize hardware efficiency while also participating in the design and implementation of new performance optimizations. You’ll identify bottlenecks, refine data paths, and introduce advanced techniques to improve scalability and responsiveness for HPC and AI workloads. This role requires a strong understanding of system-level performance tuning, storage architectures, and distributed computing, along with the ability to profile existing systems, optimize hardware utilization, and develop new performance-driven solutions in C/C++. Key Responsibilities: Performance Analysis & Debugging: Lead efforts to tune and optimize the current distributed storage system. Focus on finding software inefficiencies, system bottlenecks and maximizing the potential of the systemCode-level Analysis: Dive into C/C++ code to diagnose and address performance issues, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.Performance Innovation: Participate in the development of advanced techniques to enhance the performance of the distributed system, including optimizing data placement, reducing bottlenecks, and improving resource utilization.Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with development teams to identify performance bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement improvements that enhance system performance and reliabilityCustomer Focus: Assist with customer environments to analyze real-world HPC and AI workloads, ensuring the system meets the unique performance demands of customers.Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation related to performance engineering, optimizations, and best practicesQualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.A minimum of 5 years in tuning and debugging distributed storage systems.Proficiency in C/C++ programming to address performance-related issues at the code level.Strong understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads, customer application environments, and industry standard benchmarks.”Proven track record of collaborating with development teams to drive performance improvements.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating with a team of architects and performance engineers.Extensive experience tuning file/object/block level storage protocols and solutions (NFS, SMB, S3, iSCSI, NVMeOF, SAS, SATA).Willing to travel occasionally (once per quarter) for team / customer events. Salary Range & Benefits: The anticipated salary range for this position is $130,000 - $190,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity within the company.
