Much like a QA Performance Engineer, the Senior QA Performance Engineer also demonstrates through Load/Throughput Testing that system capacity is sufficient to support the anticipated peak throughput/usage load(s) for both new/upcoming systems and for changes to existing systems.
Additional requirements include evaluating/implementing technologies/tools, devising strategies/methodologies, and establishing standards for the Performance Test Team.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Able to perform QA Performance Engineer roles and responsibilities including:
Design Performance Test strategies/plans based on collaboration with Product Team
Devise/Construct test data strategies to support repeatable Performance Testing
Provide estimated schedules to Product Team for Performance Testing tasks
Write performance test scripts
Design/Construct/Configure repeatable Performance Tests
Execute Performance Tests, analyze/summarize test results and provide to Product Team
Work with Product Team to identify and resolve root cause(s) of performance issues revealed during Performance Test
Adhere to established methods of organization for authoring/maintaining/preserving test artifacts (test scripts, test plans, …etc.)
Additional roles and responsibilities for Senior QA Performance Engineer:
Identifying/Assessing/Acquiring/Implementing new technologies & tools for Performance Testing
Devising strategies/methodologies for Performance Testing
Devising/Implementing standards for Performance Testing
Minimum Job Requirements:
Same Requirements as QA Performance Engineer:
Four-year college degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline such as Science or Engineering or equivalent
5+ years of hands-on performance testing experience using “LoadRunner”
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be detail oriented, analytical, and creative thinker
Candidate must flourish in a fast paced, iterative, deadline driven environment.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Additional Requirements for Senior QA Performance Engineer:
Experience with cost/benefit analysis of IT resources
Experience presenting proposals, status, concepts, …etc to management and groups not directly involved with subject matter
Experience with IT legal & financial matters (i.e. Vendor Quotes, License Agreements, …etc.)
Experience with IT Project Management & Scheduling
