Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Provides direct patient care focusing on treatment of gum disease and other conditions that affect the different tissues of the mouth.
Acts as advisor to General Providers in all matters pertaining to periodontics.
Acknowledges all communications and submits required reports in a timely manner.
Maintenance of credentialing requirements
May include supervision of dental residents (for Juneau & Sitka Dentists).
Performs additional duties assigned by Director of Dental Services or other proper authority.
Other Functions
Constant pace and frequent contact with apprehensive and/or uncooperative patients require communication, patience, organization, and efficiency.
Flexibility regarding scheduling is required to accommodate occasional need to work into lunch hour, after hours, and in emergencies.
Participate in village field trips.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
DDS or DMD degree from an accredited program
Certificate/ Degree from an accredited periodontic dental specialty residency program
Active Dental Practice license in state of Alaska or another US state.
BLS
Knowledge of
Evidence-based dentistry practices.
HIPAA regulations.
Skills in
Diagnostic and treatment planning skills within the scope of a periodontist.
Clinical skills within the scope of a periodontist.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ability to
Follow infection control guidelines.
Diagnose and treat dental problems.
Follow established protocols.
Travel Required
Occasionally.
Travel is by jet, small aircraft, and ferry.
Required Certifications:
