JOB PURPOSE:

Leadership position to include clinical, supervisor, and administrative duties in the Main Operating Room. Perioperative Nurse Supervisor is responsible for functioning in the role of team/patient facilitator. Assists with orientation, training, and education of personnel. Acts as a liaison between surgeons, management, and team members to facilitate.

Orthopedic Service Line

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Serves in a leadership role, collaborating and coordinating patient care activities in the Operating Room Acts as a liaison between physicians and leadership team with pertinent and ongoing communication. Collaborates with Anesthesia, Surgical Access Unit, and Post Anesthesia Unit Staff to promote effective patient flow throughout the perioperative department. Facilitates the daily Operating Room schedule.  Assumes the Charge RN as assigned.  Direct, supervise and assign staff with an awareness of skill level. Promotes a safe environment initiates appropriate action in emergency situations, demonstrates awareness and control of hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and employees, identifies environmental concerns by participating on unit rounds. Ensures adherence to appropriate regulatory standards and the AHS Policies and Procedures Performs all aspects of clinical patient care. Identifies needs and develops/modifies patient plan of care as necessary. Coordinates with schedulers, vendors and SPD to ensure appropriate instruments and supply are available to support surgical cases.  Responsible and accountable for participation in quality and performance improvement activities with the goal to improve patient outcomes.  Utilizes literature, research and evidence-based practice to improve patient care and nursing practice keeping specialty team members up to date with education and in-service opportunities.  Demonstrate and embrace the PRIDE core values (Professionalism, Respect, Involvement, Dignity and Excellence) in every aspect of the job. Promotes unit-based Shared Governance initiatives and report back to administration and management.  Maintains professional competency by participating in continuing education and appropriate learning experiences both internal and external. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Assist the Nurse Manager in achieving an environment of excellence in clinical safety, quality, and service. Reports safety events in real time.  On call responsibilities as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. BSN degree required 

2. Valid NJ RN license

3. CNOR Certification required 

4. 3-5 years Operating Room experience required

5. BLS required
