JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Division Chief of the Legal Assistance Division - Legal Service. The Attorney III is responsible for the draft legal opinions and responses legal query, review of the contracts and/or agreements, conducts legal studies, designated as member and attend TWGs activities, designated as Investigating Officer in administrative disciplinary proceedings, and other related tasks.

Functions and Responsibilities:

1.      Represents the Department head in courts, administrative bodies, conferences and other related offices;

2.      Guides and advises the head of office and relevant Department officials on pertinent legal matters;

3.      Take action and/or prepare responses to queries and act on complex legal issues;

4.      Prepares comments, inputs, and/or recommendation on the legality and appropriateness of contracts, deeds, memoranda, correspondences and related documents submitted to the LS;

5.      Draft complicated legal documents and instruments such as but not limited to contracts, deeds, memoranda, correspondences, position papers and affidavits;

6.      Prepares legal opinions on pertinent legal documents;

7.      Provides legal counseling to officials, personnel and clients; and

8.      Does other related duties and responsibilities.

Job Outputs:

1.      Memoranda for legal opinions and letters for communication on pertinent legal documents;

2.      Review of Contracts/agreements and other legal documents; 

3.      Draft of documents and instruments such as contracts, deeds, memoranda, correspondences, and affidavits; and

4.      Review of Position Papers or Pleadings on behalf of the Department.

9. Performance Rating in the last rating period or its equivalent, as may be applicable.
