DEPARTMENT: Health & Human Services HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. LOCATION OF WORK: 825 L Street, Anchorage, AK ** Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40. ** Example of Duties Under general supervision, provide lead direction and technical support for customer service staff and perform full performance level public counter support, technical assistance and clerical processing of a variety of applications, including: food service establishment permits & plan review; temporary food permits; noise permits; beauty & barber shop permits; pool & spa permits; and pesticide applicator permits. Respond to general public questions & complaints around AMC 15 & 16; prepares routine correspondence letters; manages program supplies. Administer and grade food safety tests. Assure strict security, receive and track cash, checks and credit cards, operate cash register, prepare daily activity and cash summary reports, collect daily receipts and deposit in safe, and reconcile division revenues. Assist in initial response and data entry of noise, smoking, and/or housing complaints. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in processing permit or license applications, which includes one (1) year of experience as a Permit Clerk II with the Municipality of Anchorage, or the equivalent elsewhere. All applicants must possess or obtain: · Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire. · Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM at time of application. · Ability to 10 key at a net speed of 125 KSPM at time of application. · State of Alaska Notary Public Commission within three (3) months of hire. Additional Important Information Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
