Job description

 

The Firm is looking to recruit an Associate for a new role and to be a part of a team which will lead Finance efforts in growing the Luxembourg fund platform, ensuring compliance and good governance is maintained for all funds managed by BEFM (Blackstone Europe Fund Management) and an efficient operating model is in place for NY finance teams. The role has arisen due to the increased growth of the Luxembourg fund business and the recent changes and growing complexity within the fund administration arena. The Associate will be a key part of the Perpetual Finance (PF) organization, working collaboratively with the SVP and AVP alongside the Global Fund Finance (GFF) leads and the Lux Finance Steering committee (Steerco) with an indirect reporting line to MD, Luxembourg Finance.

 

Responsibilities

·         Onboard New Funds

o    At fund launch, help with review of the carried interest and management fees models, and prepare walkthrough memo

o    Assist with review of process related to the preparation of the Capital Account Statement (F/S) and help  document the analysis for BEFM’s review

o    Assist with Fund Admin RFI if needed

·         Fund Admin Due Diligence and Ongoing Monitoring

o    Assist with the due diligence on the fund administrators engaged by GFF/PF for Lux funds jointly with the BEFM FFO (Fund Finance Oversight), review answers, prepare report, and organize on-site visits

o    Help to complete and coordinate the due diligence on BASP (GFF/PF) and organize on-site visits jointly with BEFM

o    Prepare the KPIs reports, leveraging from GFF/PF’s issue log, for each delegate involved in BEFM Funds

o    Ensure LP questions linked to the Lux funds fund admin operating model are answered consistently and in line with Luxembourg regulations

·         Tax compliance and regulatory reporting

o    Assist in the coordination of VAT and tax returns process with each GFF/PF team and the Luxembourg tax/VAT advisor

o    Ensure FATCA and CRS reporting for Funds is complete and documented

o    Coordinate the LPA audits and AIFMD reporting from a US point of view (contact with Legal, Finance, legal advisors)

o    Report to BEFM on all these activities on a regular basis

·         Governance

o    Participation in BEFM Roadshows and any relevant training for US teams

o    Maintain excellent relationship with BXTI and GFF/PF leads to enable BEFM to know how to leverage from automation initiatives at group level

 

Qualifications

 

·   4+ years of relevant financial services industry experience (including  prior experience in a Big 4 as a consultant or an auditor) with solid understanding of alternative industry operations

·   Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline.

·   Interest in learning Luxembourg laws and regulations, as well as Luxembourg VAT and tax high level rules

·   US GAAP and Fund accounting knowledge a plus

·   Experience in due diligence or Fund administrator, at a depositary bank a plus

·   Collaborative team player with confidence to build relationships with senior stakeholders

·   Strong leadership skills

·    Project management skills

·    Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels

·    Highly organized, goal-oriented, and solutions focused

·    Great attention to detail and accountability for delivery

·     Proactive and interested in suggesting new, efficient solutions.

·     Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required (strong ability to produce creative, compelling, detailed reporting materials)

·     Strong interest in staying current on relevant technology

Expected annual base salary range:

$120,000 - $150,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
