Position Summary:This position will be the primary safety resource for an operations area team. The Safety Professional is responsible for a wide range of safety activities including program development and interpretation, conducting safety training, auditing and corrective actions. The candidate should be familiar with OSHA standards. This position reports to the refinery Safety Supervisor. Key Responsibilities: + Providing support as the point of contact person for an operations area team on all safety issues. + Providing support as the point of contact person for maintenance area team on all safety issues. + Supporting the refinery emergency response efforts as part of the Incident Command structure. + Supporting the refinery as a technical resource for safety issues including interpretation of standards and regulations, accident/incident investigations, and maintenance turnaround support. + Rotational on call duty including weekends and holidays required. + Serve as the subject matter expert for assigned programs/procedures. + Developing, coordinating, and presenting various safety training courses to refinery personnel. + Continuously assess safety risks within the area, develop and execute mitigation plans to address risks. + Engaging in project related work by participating in the review and approval of plan development, Management of Change reviews and project safety plans. + Conducting Field Performance Audits + Engaging with contractors to communicate safety expectations and help them meet Company objectives. + Reviewing work permits & LOTO, correct deficiencies, identify improvement opportunities and help drive improvement. + Providing safety related input in the development and review of operating procedures. + Serving as an advocate for first line employees to help them safely complete work. + Ensuring OSHA regulatory compliance. + Interacting with refinery personnel to ensure safety procedures and regulations are followed. Education and Experience: + Bachelor's Degree required; safety preferred. + Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and the ability to develop competence in additional software (e.g. PowerBI, Survey Gizmo). + Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a Safety/Process Safety/Industrial Hygiene related position preferred. + Ability to manage complex projects with limited support. + A driver's license is required upon hire. + A TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) will be required upon hire.
