POSITION SUMMARY:  

This position supports the Gathering and Processing Compression assets in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. The actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 1. Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.

2. Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.

3. Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends and proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.

4. Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.

5. Develop and present training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with the Operations and Learning Development departments.

6. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.

7. Develop safety-related communications for inclusion in shift starter meetings, safety meetings, notices, and bulletins.

8. Maintains sufficient professional expertise and proficiency in discipline to achieve Company expectations and perform technical assignments.

9. Must be able to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and privileged information.

10. Must be a self-starter who communicates well with plant personnel, management, the public, regulatory agencies, and customers.

11. Provide assistance to other facilities/areas when needed

12. This position is highly visible at this location. The individual must possess excellent leadership qualities and a previous track record of safety success.

13. This position does not have direct reports. However, this individual oversees all safety, health, and security elements of the facility and its employees, including construction project work.

Must possess knowledge of safety metrics, root cause analysis, excavation safety, confined space entry, fall protection requirements, energy isolation, hot work, hazard communication, mobile equipment, and mobile crane safety.Must have the ability to prepare safety-related reports and other types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to incorporate different training methods based on the audience and capability to speak in front of large groups.Must be able to properly analyze process safety-related information and present findings in a clear and concise manner.Must be proficient in conducting onsite assessments and evaluations as they relate to safety and process safety management items.Must be able to perform and track all site safety required trainings.Must have excellent time and project management skills and the ability to work well with minimal supervision.Communication Skills:  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  The job will require public speaking engagements and significant report writing. Computer Skills:  Must have exceptional computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint systems is also required.  Familiarity with safety-related software management systems is a plus.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED required with 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree with two (2) or more years of relevant experience Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirementsAbility to identify issues and work as an independent problem solverCapable of managing conflict in the work environmentFocus on developing business acumen and technical knowledgeCurrent safety-related certifications are a plus.Must hold a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.Travel expectations: 25%
