The primary responsibility of the position includes assistance with entry of payroll transactions, tracking and monitoring performance management, and assisting with benefits. The Personnel Assistant works with confidential and sensitive information utilizing a significant amount of independent discretion to answer questions from employees and/or prepare documents for processing. This position requires the ability to review, interpret and communicate complicated information related to payroll and employment with SUNY. Must have excellent computation, time management and problem-solving skills along with ability to organize work, analyze data, set priorities, work as a team providing excellent customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to: + Entry of payroll transactions entries adherence to strict deadlines into PayServ and/or NYSTEP. This includes: administrative, federal college work study and student payrolls, retirement enrollment and loan transactions. + Provide co-leadership for the delivery of payroll services, including communication of payroll related information to the broader campus community and outside agencies. Supporting the administrative and student payroll functions. + Creation and maintenance of the personnel and payroll records for new hires in the SUNY portal (to include hierarchy and create organizational charts). Works closely with the Office of the Comptroller regarding payroll entries, discrepancies, and approvals + Co-manages positions and campus line numbers in accordance with Civil Service and university procedures + Review and approve requisitions in the Applicant Tracking system for data entry. + Generate administrative reports upon request (from senior leadership, institutional research, provost office, business and finance) + Management of the process for audits - HR and payroll + Conducts training programs for faculty and staff + Performance management - tracking and monitoring probationary reviews and performance evaluation notifications for UUP (June) employees. Working with Hiring Managers and employees to respond to questions related to probationary reviews and performance evaluations. + Student Employment Management + CSEA Probationary reports. + Assist with employee labor relations. Assisting in the investigation and response to contract employee grievances. + Assist with Benefits. Provide backup for benefit administrator being familiar with health/dental insurance, retirement programs and miscellaneous benefits.
