Summary The Personnel Security Specialist III involves preparing detailed reports, advising supervisors on security matters, and coordinating with other divisions and agencies to resolve security issues to ensure effective security management. This position is contingent upon contract award Responsibilities Provide direct support and service to the administration of the Security Program by participating in complex security assessment investigations Conduct, review, and analyze a variety of interviews both internal and external to the organization Provide research and analysis into complex problems and processes Serve as an expert on project teams Complete written documentation and oral presentations using critical thinking and analysis Review and analyze requests for investigations concerning security clearances and other security-related matters Examine and analyze investigative files to determine potential security risks Conduct Personnel Security Interviews (PSIs) and prepare detailed analyses and recommendations Conduct security briefings and assist in reviewing personal history statements Conduct background investigations and prepare reports on the results Draft summary sheets and recommend follow-up investigations if needed Review Personnel Security Questionnaires (SF-86) and verify application information Contact subjects to complete background investigation forms and input data Retrieve data from credit bureaus and review reports for criminal records Prioritize assignments, create schedules, and conduct peer reviews Other duties as assigned Qualifications Must be a US Citizen Six (6) years of experience in the personnel security investigative or investigative analyst field Current TS security clearance and capable of obtaining SCI access, including passing a security CI polygraph exam Knowledge of DOJ and FBI regulations regarding the personnel security process. Experience conducting interviews and security briefings, discussing analysis and opinion in a concise, logical, and objective manner, and preparing written communications setting forth analyses and recommendations. Proficiency in indices systems, various record check systems, and file review processes to develop and extract the most complete and accurate information relative to the subject as possible. Experience interpreting Governmental and commercial database checks to identify areas of concern during the investigative process. Experience developing investigative reports and other sources of information to identify security vulnerabilities; to develop investigative leads; to propose a recommendation as to the approval, denial, or revocation of eligibility for access to national security information based on the application of the appropriate adjudicative standards. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment. Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) knowledge.
