Petroleum Engineering Technologist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Petroleum Engineering Technologist to join our In Situ SAGD operations team. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing production, analyzing subsurface data, and implementing automation solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology or a related field. Eligible for registration with ASET5-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on In Situ SAGD operations considered a plusStrong understanding of exploitation engineering principles and production optimization techniquesProficiency in databases, data analysis software and tools (e.g., Excel, PowerBI , Petrel, Wellview, PI, IHS)Experience with cloud services, automation systems and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Azure) is highly desirableExcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities: 

Monitor and analyze well performance data, including production rates, pressures, temperatures, and fluid compositionsIdentify and troubleshoot production challenges, collaborating with engineers and field personnel to implement solutionsCompile and summarize simulation model results and help in creating simulation models input dataHelp the business to optimize the use of  subsurface data (e.g., observation well data, seismic, well logs, core analysis)Assist in the design and implementation of automation systems for well monitoring and controlDevelop and maintain scripts and databases to streamline data analysis and reportingContribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve operational efficiencyBecome the go-to resource for In Situ subsurface engineers when it comes to in-house data sources, data management and governance, digital platforms, databases, etc. Able to collaborate, share, teach and supportUnderstand the contribution of this work and role to the safe operations of SAGD properties

Location and other key details:

You will work out of our Calgary office, located Suncor Energy Center 150 – 5 Ave S.W.This in an office based role, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
