The Chevron ENGINE IT department contains platform teams who are members of the four petrotechnical digital platforms including Surface, Subsurface, Wells (Drilling), and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE). These teams operate in a matrix environment with priorities determined by global Product Owners and Product Managers.
About the position:
The Chevron ENGINE Digital Platform Head is accountable for oversight of Chevron ENGINE platform teams and their development and support of digital tools for the four Petrotechnical Digital Platforms. This position works closely with the four Digital Platforms� Technical Managers, the platforms� associated Product Owners / Product Managers, and Chevron IT Engineering personnel chapters to ensure that products are aligned to leading performance outcomes, and are delivered securely, reliably, and efficiently. This role is key in establishing a high performing organization responsible for digital delivery and support in the Chevron ENGINE for the enterprise. The Chevron ENGINE Digital Platform Head will supervise technical leaders on the Chevron ENGINE platform teams. The role is also responsible for enabling and incorporating Chevron�s IT operating model, and creating the right networks and relationships to enable digital delivery. The role will promote and adopt best practices in partnership with the IT personnel chapters and the digital platform managers and technical managers, understand and lead overall alignment between platform teams in the Chevron ENGINE and the petrotechnical platforms that are part of globally, and drive for consistency and scalability. Other responsibilities include: Promote best practice and common standards and technology usage across Chevron; support the Digital Platform Manager & Technical Manager in managing the overall performance of the Platform by defining and delivering necessary epics; represent the Platforms in various Chevron ENGINE leadership forums and continually benchmark platform performance against industry standards and trends; drive consistency & alignment in practice, process, and toolset usage within each Platform and across all petrotechnical Platforms where it makes sense.
Key responsibilities:
Build out the IT petrotechnical digital platform delivery organization within Chevron ENGINE. Communicate and reinforce the desired work culture, including a focus on personal and process safety
Support the digital enablement of petrotechnical workflows. Examples include but are not limited to:
1. Surface: maintenance and inspection; facility & equipment operations; smart engineering; process automation
2. Subsurface: earth science; reservoir management & forecasting; surveillance analysis & optimization; scientific applications
3. Wells: drilling; well construction, design, engineering, and delivery
4. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): workforce safety and occupational hygiene; OE audit and assurance; environment and sustainability; emergency management
Build team alignment and consensus, ensuring team has a clear understanding of the platforms� global priorities. Enable others to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline, multi-function, multi-cultural, and matrix environment
Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery partners, including peers at other locations, to execute the platforms� prioritized and strategic initiatives
Provide technical support and mentoring to junior staff
Manage performance and development of Chevron ENGINE digital platform technical leads
Required qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a comparable field
7+ years of relevant work experience in petrotech workflow digital enablement
Experience in hiring and supervising team members
Strong communication skills. Ability to be well-organized, clear and concise in conversations and written communications
Self-driven, can work with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment
Team player who exhibits effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
English language (Advanced)
