What you will do

We are seeking a skilled and detail-orientated Accountant to join the Finance Team within our Shared Services Centre, reporting to the Financial Controller. The role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of general accounting processes, statutory reporting, and compliance with accounting standards, e.g., UK GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP. This includes, updating, reviewing, and reconciling the general ledger and review and analysis for certain legal entities. This role will be on a 14-month fixed-term contract.

What you can expect

You will be responsible for reviewing and signing off on a weekly basis the bank reconciliation performed by the accounts payable team, reviewing the cash journals and invoice receipts posting.

Reviewing intercompany and third-party invoicing and ensuring that they are completed in a timely manner and monitoring the collection of receipts.

Preparing annual statutory accounts and participating in the annual audit process and internal audit requirements for certain legal entities, as needed.

Assisting with the timely preparation of board reporting, ensuring that the data is complete, accurate and clear for the readers of the reports.

Assisting with the development of accounting policies, procedures and guidance and ensuring the control framework is maintained.

Providing leadership and mentorship to a direct report, supporting their performance and development.

What you will bring

The role holder will be degree educated, with a recognized accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA).

Experience in a large accounting firm or comparative accounting environment.

An excellent working knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP and Statutory Accounts reporting.

Knowledge of IFRS standards, including IFRS 16 (Leases), IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition), and IFRS 9 (Financial Instruments).

Simplified IFRS reporting under US GAAP, with an understanding of the key differences between US GAAP and IFRS.

Experience preparing financial statements under FRS 101 and FRS 102, including interpreting, and implementing new accounting standards and consolidating accounts.

Proven experience in implementing and maintaining a control framework, including documenting controls.

Experience participating in external and internal audits (interim and final), including liaising with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and successful audit completion.

Demonstrated management experience, with the ability to lead by example and foster an environment of personal responsibility.

Experience providing support, technical guidance, and ensuring team members have the necessary skills and resources to succeed.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge inconsistencies, ensure robust data, and explain variances clearly.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting issues clearly and draft financial statement and technical memos.

Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, and strong skills in PowerPoint and Word.
