PGIM Fixed Income has affirmed the third-party insurance business to be a strategic growth priority of the firm. The firm has had tremendous success in growing the business and we are now seeking an experienced professional with strong client relationship management and service skills, fixed income market knowledge and experience within the insurance asset management industry to serve as Vice President and Senior Insurance Client Manager on our Insurance Client Advisory Team. This role will be based in Newark, NJ office.
The focus of the position will be to service PGIM Fixed Income’s North American insurance clients. The Insurance Client Advisory team will help meet the client service needs of a rapidly growing insurance institutional business. Through direct in person client meetings, phone, and email contact, and leveraging the broad resources of the firm, the senior insurance client manager will be fully responsible for maintaining and nurturing these relationships. The goals are to retain client assets, strategically identify cross–selling opportunities to grow client assets and to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction such that clients would recommend the firm to others. The successful candidate will be able to appropriately balance the delicate task of being a strong advocate on behalf of the client while ensuring that the company’s interests are also met.
What you can expect
Serve as Lead Relationship Manager for certain existing insurance clients, with minimal direction subsequent to a reasonable transition period
Proactively manage and develop relationships with clients with the primary goal of client retention, overseeing all aspects of day-to-day servicing of these critical relationships
Primary client contact for insurance clients for ongoing investment related activities, including ad hoc questions and access to broader platform
Work directly with CIO’s, senior investments staff, and day-to-day client contacts
Understand and have the ability to discuss and drive conversations on the nuances of insurance clients, guideline sensitives, book yield, gain/loss consequences and RBC implications
Manage, lead and train a team of junior client managers supporting the senior client managers
Coordination of, and active participant in client meetings, including portfolio reviews, Investment Committee meetings, and Strategic Client Annual Reviews (scheduling, attending, notes, follow ups)
Working with our dedicated onboarding team, play an active role in the on-boarding of new clients and the on-boarding of new accounts from existing clients
Coordinate with investment teams, client service and other stakeholders to ensure the client’s needs are being met, requests are being addressed on a timely basis, and the team is thinking and acting proactively
Strong knowledge of the investment process for product strategies across asset class coupled with the ability to speak intelligently about the capital markets and the impact it may have on client portfolios
Maintain client information including Salesforce data, relationship plans, client briefing notes (as needed)
Attend relevant Investment Team meetings to ensure incumbent is current on the key investment strategies
Drive efficiency in carrying out the client service role by utilizing the various systems and tools available
Travel as needed to client locations for portfolio or relationship reviews or events
Give direction to junior team members while providing opportunities for their development
What you will bring
At least 8 years of experience in institutional client service, including over 6 years in the insurance sector.
Experience in successfully servicing insurance clients, with a demonstrated knowledge of industry-specific needs, constraints, and opportunities for insurance company CIOs, including familiarity with how to use actuarial output, meet accounting treatment objectives, optimize total return subject to book yield, RBC, and / or duration targets.
Ideally experience working with Life Insurers and Reinsurers regarding fixed income portfolio management
Experience working with investment teams to deliver bespoke solutions to insurance companies
Ability to serve as PGIM Fixed Income’s senior representative in meetings with insurance company CIOs and their teams, with gravitas, knowledge and a solutions-orientation commensurate with this role
Strong financial acumen, technical knowledge and understanding of Fixed Income
Excellent client / internal stakeholder management skills
Established insurance industry contacts and a proven track record of cultivating consultative relationships
Excellent interpersonal skills and written skills, and an ability to explain relatively involved concepts in a clear and concise manner
Attention to details and processes
Highly motivated team player with a collaborative mindset and strong interest in building a business in a complex and performance-oriented environment
Understanding of firm products and services, as well as the role of consultants and institutional investors
Series 7 and 63 required within 6 months of being hired
Bachelor’s Degree
Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $170,000 to $190,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
