Pharmacist Location: Fort Wayne, IN Duration: Fulltime Description: Position Details: The clinical generalist will provide pharmaceutical care services to the patients of Client in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Clinical generalists rotate through clinical and distribution services, however, anticipate being assigned to a clinical pharmacist role > 60% of the month. These services include, but are not limited to, multidisciplinary rounding 7 days per week, oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing, and proper documentation of patient medication therapy, as well as advising physicians on matters pertaining to drug usage and control within assigned hospital locations. Providing drug information, patient information, and oversight of information and dispensing processes and systems is also critical. Clinical practices include dosing and monitoring anticoagulants, antimicrobials including vancomycin, total parenteral nutrition, patient-controlled analgesia, and others. With over 160 APPE student rotations a year, generalists have ample opportunity to mentor pharmacy IPPE/APPE students, five (5) PGY1 pharmacy residents and one (1) PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy resident. Client, is a major regional medical center located in Fort Wayne. It provides comprehensive medical services to patients in northeastern Indiana, northwestern Ohio and southern Michigan. Client is a tertiary medical center currently with 511 beds (all private) and is a Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center. In addition to the medical and surgical populations, it also has specialty centers for stroke, cardiac, orthopedics, oncology, and women’s and children’s services. Client Pharmacy has provided advanced pharmacy services in a variety of areas for over 20 years. Client offers a progressive pharmaceutical care environment in a variety of practice settings, including inpatient pharmacy, interdisciplinary rounding, ambulatory specialty clinics, a surgical/critical care satellite pharmacy, cancer satellite pharmacy, and specialty pharmacy. Client Pharmacy leadership includes a team with dedication to each facility and service type, including Inpatient and Ambulatory Clinical Services, Distribution Services Manager for Client Regional Medical Center and Client Hospital, an inpatient pharmacy supervisor, lead pharmacists in central and critical care/OR satellite, and lead technicians in central pharmacy. Client pharmacy is an early adopter of and a best-practice site for integrated technologies, including Epic©, Pyxis® MedStationsTM, Pyxis® CII SafeTM, Talyst’s Autopack® and Autopharm® inventory management software with vertical carousels, Smart Infusion systems, and Baxa EM 2400TM TPN compounder. Position Qualifications: Candidates must possess a pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution and have completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency or have equivalent hospital practice experience. Pharmacy licensure or eligibility in Indiana is required. Candidates must have a high level of clinical practice skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and the interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with students, health professionals, and patients.
