Pharmacist - Full Time
Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacist to join our team at the JSH-Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position offers a rewarding opportunity to provide exceptional clinical care in a compassionate environment. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications, managing pharmacy operations, and delivering high-quality patient care. Your role will include answering routine questions, operating the telephone, handling department operations, and receiving complaints with an understanding of the appropriate protocol. You will demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral, and be attentive to details. Your responsibilities will encompass planning, organizing, gathering, and assembling data, as well as demonstrating knowledge of common formats for correspondence and reports. You will be expected to use department-specific equipment, accurately open, sort, and route mail, monitor inventory, and order supplies. Processing outpatient prescriptions and completing inpatient orders accurately and in a timely manner are key aspects of the job. You will educate customers with pertinent information regarding orders, prescriptions, and medication administration. Managing inventory, sustaining adequate inventory of controlled and non-controlled drugs, providing timely OTC consults, and documenting drug transactions accurately are also critical functions. You will demonstrate accountability and responsibility with pharmacy equipment and software, operate the Pyxis system correctly per pharmacy procedure, and oversee third-party reimbursement and coverage for outpatient prescriptions in line with insurances, regulatory agencies, and hospital policy. This role does not require travel and is compensated on an hourly basis, with a salary range of $23.02 to $35.97 per hour, reflecting the entry-level nature of the position. Required Skills + Must be a graduate from an approved school of pharmacy. + Licensed by the state of Kentucky as a pharmacist. + Ability to provide care according to licensure requirements. + Proficient in the operation of telephone and department-specific equipment. + Effective communication skills, both written and oral. + Attentive to details with strong planning and organizational abilities. + Knowledge of common formats for correspondence and reports. + Ability to accurately open, sort, and route mail. + Competent in monitoring inventory and ordering supplies. + Skilled in processing prescriptions accurately and in a timely manner. + Able to educate customers on medication-related information. + Proficient in managing inventory of controlled and non-controlled drugs. + Able to provide accurate and timely OTC consults. + Capable of documenting drug transactions accurately. + Accountable and responsible with pharmacy equipment and software. + Able to operate the Pyxis system correctly per pharmacy procedure. + Knowledgeable in overseeing third-party reimbursement and coverage for prescriptions. Required Experience + Less than 1 year of experience as a pharmacist. + One year of working experience in a clinical setting as a pharmacist. + Experience with pharmacy operations and medication dispensing. + Familiarity with patient education and consultation regarding medications. + Experience in inventory management and control of pharmaceuticals. + Knowledge of drug transaction documentation and pharmacy software systems. + Understanding of third-party reimbursement processes and insurance coverage. + Experience with Pyxis or similar automated dispensing systems is preferred. + Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is advantageous.
