Pharmacist II - Per Diem - Varied - Encinitas

This is a casual/per diem, non-benefited position with 10-hour varied shift at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. Schedule will be at least 3 shifts per month, including 1 weekend.

Responsibilities include:

Primarily clinical based practice demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescriptive authorities as approved by the medical staff.Participating in direct patient care with patient care teams.Performing all clinical pharmacy activities and oversees clinical activities of clinical pharmacists in training.Round with the medical team and provide patient care interventionsPrecepting students and/or residents as appropriateReviewing and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documenting the care provided to patients.Supervising the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.Routinely communicating with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy.Contributing to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.Demonstrating ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.Demonstrating ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. DegreePGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant area of clinical pharmacy practice.


Required Certification/Registration:

California Pharmacist LicenseAHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes.Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally recognized certification required within 2 years' of hire.


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

Experience in a health system pharmacy enterpriseTeaching certificate and/or experience precepting students and/or residents.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
