Summary This position is located in the Pharmacy Department at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, in Phoenix, AZ. The incumbent serves as a pharmacist with specialization in clinical informatics applications; coordinating the implementation, management, program development, and clinical development of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other clinical packages. Responsibilities Responsible for the local setup and maintenance of clinical software along with the implementation of new clinical packages/software patches. Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as a liaison between service lines concerning these processes to ensure appropriate and accurate data flow. Trains providers and other system users, on a continuous basis, to incorporate new technology into their daily practice, along with developing tools to enhance appropriate and accurate documentation and promotion of the importance of data validity and data security to all system users. Develops treatment protocols, standards of practice, and policies associated with, or that may be enhanced by, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) through collaboration with other health professionals and applications coordinators. Serves as an outpatient pharmacist providing on-site pharmaceutical support, such include, but not limited to: accurate filling and dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications, advise patients and nursing staff on dosage regimens, side effects and storage requirements; and interview patient/proxy to ascertain significant past and current medical and medication history. **This position is being announced concurrently under Delegated Examining Plan (DE) procedures. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education(external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Software application coordination to integrate data packages, software modules, quality test of pharmaceutical software, software enhancements, troubleshooting, provide technical guidance to pharmacy staff health care to routine matters or updates to process in automated systems, serve as point of contact Pharmacy information management, routine pharmacist duties such as limited physical assessments, adjust treatment plans, accurate filling of prescriptions, store and protect drugs and chemicals. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.
