Pharmacist - Inpatient - PRN

Pharmacist - Inpatient - PRN

Inpatient Pharmacist duties include, but are not limited to:

Fill and verify medication orders/infusions,Monitor patient drug therapiesCounsel patientsDocument interventionsAssist in maintaining pharmacy inventoryProvide drug information in compliance with all state and federal laws governing the practice of pharmacy including, standards of Joint Commission.

Our PRN Pharmacists may be used as part of the pharmacy's daily/weekly staffing grid as well as for emergency shifts and to cover extended leaves for our full- and part-time staff. PRN availability is communicated with the scheduler and then used to write our schedule for that pay period. As the inpatient pharmacy is open 24/7, all pharmacist shifts may potentially be covered by a PRN inpatient pharmacist pending individual schedule availability.

**The pharmacy's current staffing needs may offer the potential for close to full-time hours for training and short-term staff coverage within the first 4 to 6 months of employment followed by PRN coverage.

Generally Varies, As-Needed BasisHours of Operation: 24/7, Primary coverage need is for 1st and/or 2nd shifts with potential weekend coverage.

Qualifications 

Graduation from an accredited college of pharmacyLicense in state of Iowa as a registered pharmacistContinuing education in good standing.

Performance Standards

1.) Interpret medication orders (verbal/electronic/written) and transcribe to patient medication profiles accurately.

2.) Dispense medications accurately and timely.

3.) Complete all competence assessment requirements.

4.) Provide courteous and cooperative service to internal and external customers according to service excellence standards.

5.) Document clinical interventions.

6.) Complete daily/monthly medication area inspections.

7.) Communicate with providers, insurance or financial department to help problem solve issues with the medication orders, formulary or finances.

8.) Provide drug information when needed and clinical recommendations for medication orders
