Pharmacist Specialist for Critical Care (FT) - Seacoast

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values Exhibits and conveys the message of the Service Excellence Standards, Value of Caring, Value of the Person, Value of Quality, and the Value of Integrity in every interaction Works as a team member with a positive attitude when interacting with other department employees including pharmacy students and residents in addition to other hospital personnel Displays expertise in medication therapy and exhibits the clinical and professional skills to positively interact with physicians, nurses, residents, students, and other health care practitioners Knows and follows institutional pharmacy policies and procedures and medication policies and procedures Knows and follows state and federal laws regarding dispensing of medications Accurately interprets and enters medication orders in the computer for drug administration Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a medication order as needed Provides drug information, drug therapy recommendations, and education to physicians, nurses, patients, pharmacy staff, pharmacy residents and students related to assigned clinical areas Reports adverse drug events (ADE) within assigned clinical areas Develops department educational/monitoring tools and in-services to promote continued growth of clinical pharmacy services and up to date practice as it pertains assigned clinical areas Develops and maintains policies and protocols as necessary related to assigned clinical areas Participates in hospital committees related to assigned clinical areas where pharmacy involvement is needed Reviews appropriate use of medications to include optimization of use and cost considerations Serves as a preceptor to pharmacy residents and students, including participation in research as it applies to assigned clinical areas Contributes to the continued development of the practice of the profession of pharmacy

 

Additional responsibilities and expectations of the Floor/ICU Pharmacist:

Works primarily in a decentralized model providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including but not limited to pharmacokinetics, drug dosing consultations, and adult parenteral nutrition management Participates in multidisciplinary rounds daily as applicable to assigned clinical areas

 

Qualifications /Training:

PGY1 required

PGY2 in critical care preferred

Ability to work independently, required

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

Baccalaureate degree or PharmD Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy required

Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina
