Shift Time: 8:30am- 5:00pm
Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Automation Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospital's automated pharmacy dispensing systems.Reviews and analyzes application systems including testing, debugging, and installing to support departmentally based client/server software applications.Assists pharmacists and technicians and other staff in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the automated medication distribution process.Coordinates set up, new builds, installations and expansions, ensuring that all systems, such as network, emergency power, space, etc are ready for implementation.Optimizes inventory of medications within the automation system and ensures optimal and consistent configuration settings.Assists with operational support functions, including minor housekeeping activities and department cleaning/disinfecting/decontaminating standards to maintain the work area and responding timely to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of application systems/administration experience OR four years of pharmacy experience without a degree.Must have one year relevant experience with application support.Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program (or equivalent) or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.Four years of related pharmacy experience required with proficiency in pharmacy automation utilization.Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.
