Pharmacy Clinical Specialist
Job Summary The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist is responsible for assisting in the planning, organization and direction of clinical pharmaceutical services to achieve high quality standard of care in pharmacy services related to specific areas of clinical expertise throughout the continuum. Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes for patients. Collaborates with the pharmacy managers in developing training and education programs and evaluation processes for clinical activities of the pharmacist staff in the clinical specialist's specific area of clinical expertise. Prepares formulary review and medication use evaluations of medications used in the area of clinical expertise for presentation to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Participates in multidisciplinary teams related to clinical pharmacy initiatives. Achieves and maintains participatory management and partnership with the other pharmacy Clinical Specialists. Achieves and maintains satisfactory working relationships with other pharmacy leadership, pharmacy staff and other hospital departments, committees and administrators.
