The role you’ll contribute:

The Automation Supervisor performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication. This position coordinates the day-to-day activities of a team of automation and shipping associates and monitors productivity and performance standards. This position oversees the automation fulfillment process to ensure service standards are met and patients receive consistent care. This position hires, trains and supervises members of the automation and shipping teams and is required to understand all pharmacy processes and positions excluding Pharmacist’s duties. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.

Oversees automation staff duties throughout the day, communicating with staff regularly to avoid bottlenecks and ensure timely and safe medication fulfillment.

Operates complex automation dispensing/computer equipment used to prepare and dispense pharmaceuticals and serves as a liaison between vendor and facility for system upgrades.

Performs basic hardware and mechanical repairs and daily cleaning, canister maintenance, calibration and filling of dispensing automation equipment.

Provides initial system trouble shooting for software and interface system issues.

Proactively updates manager on staffing, team status, operational bottlenecks, or any other issues requiring the awareness and assistance of other leaders and reassigns the workflow as assigned.

Works with purchasing technicians to ensure adequate inventory levels are available for both automated and manual filling areas; utilizing automation system to assist the facility with diversion prevention and detection.

Serves as an active member of Ad hoc committee, examining existing processes and communicating fresh solutions for improving overall efficiency and safety

Works with other organizational leaders to offer support when assigned and plays an active role as part of the pharmacy’s leadership team, bringing creative ideas and a positive attitude to all leadership meetings.

Maintains accountabilities for all automation staff, ensuring that all system settings are in compliance with AHS policies and Rx Plus guidelines.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

High school diploma/GED or equivalent

3 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in retail or mail-order pharmacy

Technical day to day leadership experience performing escalated or complex duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Previous experience in production, central fill or other health related entity.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration.

National Pharmacy Technician Certification, CPhT; complete national required continuing education requirement for certification.
