POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician is responsible for preparing, filling and distributing prescriptions according to client orders/specifications, maintaining equipment and inventory in the pharmacy and record keeping related to patient and drug information.
Responsibilities Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing of medications, supplies, and the provision of pharmaceutical care.Verify information on prescriptions received prior to processing (correct prescriber, name of patient, patient information, medication, dose, quantity, number of refills).Perform order entry of new and refill prescription orders.Answer questions and requests, responding to and referring inquiries to the Pharmacist when necessary.Prepare and maintain patient profile, medication administration records, and other documents as needed with notation for pharmacist’s review.Select medications from stock for preparation and presentation to pharmacist.Place pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affix labels to container.Prepare supportive prescription paperwork for home delivery.Account for delivery receipts for all delivered prescriptions.File prescriptions according to their schedule class.Follow HIPAA and PSEUDOEPHEDRINE law guidelines and any other local or federal laws.Maintain all records including prescription logs and related files.Perform Quality Assurance checks on automated technology specific to pharmacy and shipping requirements.Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalentIndiana requires a licensed pharmacy technician to be over the age of 18.Two (2) years of experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services – preferably in a call center environment.Commitment to complete the ‘technician in training’ requirements approved by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy within one year of hire date.Knowledge of medical terminology (including sig codes and Roman numerals), brand and generic names of medications, and general pharmacy terminologyComputer literacy to include operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, communication and collaboration tools, and Adobe PDF or comparable.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of previous pharmacy technician experience with exposure to all functional areas (order entry, medical records, filling, inventory, returns, etc.) preferred, or equivalent experience.Completion of a pharmacy technician training program approved by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of starting employment, or the national PTCB examination within 1 year of starting employment (reimbursable exam expenses upon successful passing grade).Inventory or logistics control experience preferred.Patient service evaluation and satisfaction experienceKnowledge of insurance procedures preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
