The Intern of Pharmacy position is for employees actively enrolled as a student in a health professions education degree program with a college or university. The intern works as an extension of the pharmacist, performing duties related to patient, provider, and customer care under the supervision of a pharmacist. The intern has responsibility with care activities which may include (but not limited to) sterile product preparation, clinical interactions with patients and the care team, and performance of a majority of pharmacy technical operations.
Job Duties Performs the job duties of a pharmacy technician I as neededCoordinate with the pharmacist to provide timely, efficient, cost effective, and appropriate pharmaceutical care to the patient while avoiding duplication and waste.Provide patient/provider/customer careUse the pharmacy computer system to facilitate patient careParticipate in patient/provider/customer care activities that do not require the expertise of a pharmacistPrepare and label medications appropriately for distribution.Retrieve, review, and perform inventory management for medications and supplies in the pharmacy.Maintain pharmacy records.Perform housekeeping duties in the pharmacy in compliance with hospital and accreditation policies.Participate in the onboarding and training of new pharmacy personnel.Complete additional projects or activities as assigned by their manager.
