The role you’ll contribute:

The Processing Supervisor is responsible for a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in the processing and adjudicating of prescriptions. This position coordinates the day-to-day activities of a team of remote ,hybrid and onsite licensed pharmacy technician staff and monitors all processing and productivity standards. This position oversees the prescription intake, claims adjudication, prior authorization, and technician quality assurance processes to ensure service standards are met and patients receive consistent care. This position hires, trains and supervises members of the processing team and is required to understand all pharmacy processes and positions excluding Pharmacist’s duties. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.

Responsible for in depth understanding of pharmacy’s services; articulates to staff to ensure goals are met with increased safety and efficiency

Understands thoroughly the AdventHealth employee prescription plan and supports the prescription benefit account team by offering support and education when communicating with staff and physician office(s) on any questions regarding formulary coverages, eligibility, prior authorization, or general plan guidelines.

Maintains an awareness of plan related initiatives, quarterly prescription plan formulary coverage updates and offers support to staff and organizational team, as necessary.

Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee relations, medical staff, departmental and administrative information.

Supports departmental and organizational Mission through appropriate use of resources, providing assistance to team members and management, accepting work or scheduled assignments and acts as a role model to the team to provide suggestions and creative ideas for performance improvement.

Monitors new and refill prescription workflow queues on a daily basis, ensuring timely order processing. Maintains an awareness of the current turnaround time and adjusts resources as needed to achieve stated goals.

Provides staffing support and maintains knowledge and expertise in the Queue technician team tasks including step therapy, prior authorization, insurance rejections, Cypress folder assignments and general claims adjudication.

Provides staffing support and maintains knowledge and expertise in the processing technician team tasks including new prescription order entry via Surescripts, fax or mail, Physician phone orders and prescription transfers.

Leaves adequate and understandable notes in the member’s profile for any issue that needs to be communicated to other staff members

Contacts physician’s office, within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice, for clarification on missing prescription information as assigned.

Collaborates with other pharmacy leaders and continually examines existing processes and communicates fresh solutions for improving overall efficiency and safety.

Collaborates with the Purchasing department on medication backorder decisions and assistance with activating medications for order entry. Collaborates with the Call Center and Member Services teams on any prescription delays and patient outreach.

Communicates with manager regarding work priorities and provides feedback regarding requests, projects, and assignments as appropriate.

Serves as a point of escalation for calls requiring a higher degree of expertise or discretion to resolve customer issues and ensures timely resolution. Communicates with department Manager regarding any areas of concern for future service.

Plays an active role in the Customer Service Triage process, ensuring those that are speaking with customers have all the resources and education needed to provide accurate and helpful information to all callers.

Works within registered pharmacy technician mandated scope of practice guidelines.

Conduct extensive interviews for new hire recruitment ensuring the right person is hired based on qualifications and skillset as they would fit best within the organization

Conducts monthly one on ones with direct reports, reviews prescription quality indicators and overall performance. Works with department leaders to develop content and lead out on weekly team huddles

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

High school diploma/GED or equivalent

2 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in retail or mail-order pharmacy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Understanding and experience with a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), or managed healthcare service organization (MCO).

Leadership experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration.

National Pharmacy Technician Certification, CPhT; complete national required continuing education requirement for certification.
