Pharmacy Procurement Backorder Specialist
Job Summary

The Pharmacy Procurement Backorder Specialist will monitor backordered Rx items across the system. Communicates with the Pharmacy Buying Team and monitors vendor portal to obtain backordered item info. Works directly with wholesaler and Direct vendor manufacturer representatives to validate actual backorder/discontinuation as well as identifying alternate items. Assesses risk to the organization with backorders and discontinued drugs by monitoring stock on hand volumes and forecasting usage. Responsible for notifying the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Formulary Services & Assistant Director of Pharmacy Inventory of the backorder or discontinuation.

Job Duties Coordinates tasks related to back order/discontinuation processes for Geisinger Pharmacy.Manages processes related to substitute product identification.Manages processes related to the rx recalls processReports and tracks Pharmacy Backorders and discontinuation of products and a system wide rx levelDevelops action plans in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Formulary and Assistant Director of Pharmacy Inventory when needed.Maintains and updates backorder and discontinuation substitute tracker.Maintains advanced knowledge of the Epic Willow purchasing system.

*Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).
