Under the direction of the Pharmacy Coordinator (PIC) and Supervisor of Pharmacy Technicians, this position is responsible for purchasing, maintaining and coordinating inventory for medications and supplies in the designated pharmacy departments. This position conducts monthly returns on items that were ordered and not used and obtains credits on used products. The Pharmacy Procurement Technician communicates with vendors and manufacturers; researches and compares medication prices in support of the current contracts; and reviews and implements contract responsibilities. This position handles floor stock procurement, fills medication, pulls expired medication and performs monthly checks.
Salary Range: Hourly pay rate: $22.19 - $32.73
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education or equivalency:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a science or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.Experience:
Must have minimum of five (5) years as a pharmacy technician or related experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Strongly prefer at least one (1) year of pharmacy purchasing and inventory control experience.Specialized training:

Must possess a valid CPhT Certification and be licensed by the AZ State Board of Pharmacy.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires knowledge of principles and practices of pharmacy procurement and contracting. Must have working knowledge of establishing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels and inventory management. Must be proficient in Microsoft, Word, Excel, and other business applications. Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision making. Must be able to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, vendors, and our customers. Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
